Land Acknowledgment
Although we are grateful you are here, we cannot welcome you. We acknowledge the First People of this land, where we create and tell stories, are still with us. We honor the Lipan Apache, Comanche, Tonkawa, and many others whose names may not be known.
We would also like to acknowledge that East Austin has also been historically home to segregated and under-resourced Mexican and Black communities.
As guests, we pay respect to these peoples, past, present, and future, here in their homeland.
We offer this acknowledgement as one way of holding pain, rage and sorrow with our black, brown and indigenous siblings, just as much as joy, healing, and peace.
